- Founded in the 7th century, Lamu still reflects the typical picture of the old Arabic dhow ports. Not only the Swahili-culture has its roots in Lamu, but hand finished, richly carved furniture and doors. Old 18th century stone houses, women dressed in the traditional bui-bui, donkey caravans, fishermen in their dhows with huge triangular sails giving the atmosphere of the busy days of the past. The narrow streets have about 4000 donkeys, which take the place of cars, lorries and taxis.
Lamu Palace hotel is located on Lamu Island directly on the seashore. It has 22 rooms all of which are air-conditioned. There is a restaurant on the rooftop and a more spacious one on the terrace serving seafood, as it’s speciality. There are sunbathing, diving, snorkeling by dhow boat trips to the nearby Manda island.

- Older than The London Ritz, younger than The Savoy, no other hotel in Kenya has as rich history as The Norfolk, one of the worlds most romantic hotels. When it first opened on Christmas of 1904, it was to spearhead traditions, which are still unmatched today. Nairobi as a capital of Kenya grew all around The Norfolk. It soon became a gathering place for new arrivals, businessmen and government officials. Big Game Hunters, with clients such as aristocrats and adventurers who came to experience the new Kenya, started their safaris here. It was an island of civilized comfort in the early wild and dusty days of this country. The guest list made its legend and still does so today.
Because of the excellent service and the fine cuisine it is now a member of "The Leading Hotels of the World".

- This area of 1,800 sqkm National Reserve spreads southwest of Nairobi, along the Tanzanian Border and the Serengeti National Park. The Mara River and its tributary the Talek water the landscape of gently rolling grassy hills. Masai Mara has the highest concentration of game in Kenya and the largest lion population, including the black-manned lion. The Mara River is teeming with hippos, huge crocodiles and oversized catfish. It is the theatre of the "Greatest Animal Show on Earth", the great migration. From July to September, hundred thousands of gnus, accompanied by zebras, antelopes and gazelles, move from the dry Serengeti to greener pastures, closely monitored by their predators.
The luxurious Mara Safari Club is set at the foot of the Aitong Hills in the Ol-Choro Oiroua Conservation Area, bordering the Masai Mara National Reserve. All tents have their own private river frontage, with four-poster beds, veranda, electricity, modern en suite facilities with hot and cold running water. The main building, with lounge, bar and dining room is cantilevered over the river.

- The Governors' Family of Camps provides luxury and comfort while retaining the authentic flavour of safari camping. There is still excitement - wild animals in camp, only canvas overhead and yet you can have a hot shower and iced drinks. The high quality of food and service seem amazing in this rough, bush setting miles from civilization. This was the first tented camp to be established in the Masai Mara National Reserve.
The green tents are sited along the high banks of the looping Mara river. Tall old trees, clipped green lawns, and the quiet river give everything a feeling of tranquillity. Each tent is sited on a cement foundation with a private bathroom. There are hot showers, flush toilets, washbasins and even bidets.

- Lamu's appeal derives from the unique character of the people who live there. Their culture is very old and has mixed origin. Although based on the Islamic religion, most customs derive solely from the Swahili culture, a people of mixed Bantu and Arab blood, who many centuries ago were prosperous and politically powerful. Outwardly little has changed in this strictly Islamic enclave, where the only motorcar belongs to the District Officer. The elegant centuries-old houses with their fountains in flower-filled courtyards reflect a heritage that had running water, plumbing and simple air-condition while Europe was still in dark ages.
Kisimani House is found in Shela Village on Lamu. It has been built like a fortress and has been beautifully furnished in Swahili style. There are four en-suite bedrooms, miscellaneous single beds, a large open-air living/dining terrace and private verandas on the ground floor. The two top floors have spectacular views of the ocean, the archipelago and of life in Shela village. In the endless white sandy beaches surrounding this hotel, the sea is clean and safe for swimming, goggling, skiing, windsurfing, sailing and fishing.

- Kenya offers the right combination of beautiful and romantic hotels, stunning scenery, and is easily accessible to visitors. A wedding in Kenya is an ideal opportunity for the bride, groom, and guests alike to also experience the romance and adventure of a Kenyan honeymoon. While the idea of arranging a wedding in a foreign country may seem daunting, the legalities of marrying in Kenya can be readily arranged by us.
Kenya's many private game ranches and lodges all make an ideal secluded wedding venue, and a special wedding-honeymoon package can be arranged for both the couple and their guests. When it comes to Honeymoons, Kenya has long been recognized as one of the most romantic destinations on earth. It has a range of options for couples looking for a personal paradise of peace and privacy.
When you are planning for a wedding, let your imagination run wild and consider Kenya for a truly unforgettable day. The major choice facing couples considering a Kenyan wedding is choosing the backdrop for the day. While some settle for the beach, weddings can also be arranged in the bush, in tented wilderness camps, on riverbanks, in remote safari lodges, or wherever your imagination may take you.
Kenyan weddings can be informal and relaxed; barefoot on the beach, relaxing under canvas, or completely formal with black ties and wedding gowns in the bush. The cocktail of formality and wilderness has become a trademark of Kenya's romantic safari lifestyle and is easier to arrange than you may think.
Like for example, when a wedding is held at one of the beach resorts at the coast, the reception area of the hotel is completely transformed into a wedding chapel decorated with local tropical flowers. The marriage registrar or local pastor officiates over a wonderfully informal ceremony followed by a garden reception. The reception is also an opportunity to enjoy a delicious Kenyan sea food buffet with an evening's dancing bringing to an end a most relaxed and happy occasion.
Kenya One Tours have been arranging weddings in Kenya for many years, and are old hands at meeting special and unusual requests. We have arranged for wedding parties to arrive at their ceremony on camelback, traditional drummers to play a special wedding march, or a wedding in the bush with the wildlife as special guests. The wedding flowers, including bridal bouquet and boutonnières, wedding cake, and Champagne can also be provided and the choice of activities available at different venues make each wedding spectacular on its own.
