Ashnil Samburu Camp – officially opened in October 2008 is the second property owned by Ashnil Hotels Limited, the first being Ashnil Aruba Lodge at Tsavo East National Park. Ashnil Samburu Camp is an exclusive comfortable deluxe tents spread out along the shady banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River under a thick stand of Doum Palms and acacia trees that are a feature of the area in Buffalo Springs Game Reserve, Samburu. Samburu offers visitors an opportunity to tour Kenya and experience an exquisite safari, away from conventional safari destinations like the Masai Mara, Tsavo and Amboseli national parks
Samburu is visited by large herds of elephants, drawn by the promise of water. In the dry season, the elephants use their tusks to dig deep into the dry river beds, unearthing precious water. These waterholes then become a focal point for other game. The Samburu region is the best place to find several endemic northern species, including gerenuk, the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra and Somali Ostrich.
Ashnil Samburu Camp has 24 exclusive comfortable deluxe tents. Every spacious tent consists of a king size bed, dressing area, sitting area, luggage rack, in door shower and toilet facilities among other facilities to provide a memorable stay close to nature.
The main guest area, shaded by a canopy of acacia trees consists of the reception, lounge area, dining area, bar, and veranda deck with a view of the river. The camp has a swimming pool for those who need to cool after a long day of game viewing.
Ashnil Samburu Camp is 12 kilometers from Ngare Mara Gate, Buffalo Springs National Reserve south of Samburu National Reserve, about 325 km from Nairobi. Flying time Nairobi/Samburu is approximately 45 – 60 minutes from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport.
