Elephant vs Lion territorial war at Amboseli

This would be interesting for the Ethologists;

In the August 2008 TN magazine (now called Twende & TN); there was this article about an increasing number of elephants at Amboseli National Park spending the night outside the park, sometimes causing damage to crops.

According to KWS rangers, all this could be explained by an increasingly number of disenchanted young male lions that are war mongering. In the past, elephants and lions co-habited with tacit agreement not to engage in the wrath of each other.

This young lions, expelled from their pride, full of energy, sexually frustrated and often hungry; the young bloods had decided to hang around the elephant herds. In fact the lions managed to kill an elephant calf – a rear occurrence any where in the world.
