Immigration

Mt. Kenya

All visitors arriving in East Africa need to have a valid Passport from their country of origin. Visa applications forms and information can be obtained through Kenya Airways web site.

Money Change

All major currencies can be changed in East Africa, there are in principle no restriction in dealing with foreign currencies. Barclays Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and Kenya Commercial Bank, which have a substantial network of branches in Kenya, also in resorts, provide local currency at ATMs against Visa or Master card.

Health

Currently visitors to East Africa do not require any inoculations. All visitors coming to East Africa should take anti malaria pills before arrival; while in East Africa and a few weeks after they return.

Electricity

Electricity is provided on AC (alternating current) 240volts AC 50 cycles most hotels and lodges provide shaving sockets of 110 volts 50 cycles.

Dressing

Casual dressing is normal because of the weather conditions. In some restaurants in Nairobi and Kampala a suite or tie is required. In Nairobi, Kampala and other higher regions nights can be cold therefore long trousers and a Jersey or jacket are recommended.

Misc.

National language is Kiswahili, official language is English.

The time difference with mid-Europe amounts to 2 hours in winter and 1 hour in summer (GMT + 3 hours).

Cancellation charges for confirmed bookings

  • cancellations until 30 days before the start of the service 30% of the invoiced amount
  • cancellations between 30 and 14 days before the start of the service 50% of the invoiced amount
  • cancellations between 14 days and 2 days before the start of the service 75% of the invoiced amount
  • cancellations less than 48 hours before the start of the service 100% of the invoiced amount
